The 1st Annual Edmonds Paddle Whack Tournament took place in Burnaby, B.C. Oct 21 - 23, 2016. This was a Tier 3 PCO (Pickleball Canada Organization) tournament with 200 players entering. Local competitor and member of the Paddlemasters Pickleball Club, Paul Couch, finished 2nd in the Men's 5.0 singles category.

Couch played Jared Hurdman in the gold medal match, an experienced player from Utah. Couch defeated Hurdman earlier in the night during the round-robin play and was off to a quick start match going up 6-3. Being the 8th game of the night both players were visibly tired and in the end Hurdman took the gold with a 15-8 win over Couch.
